Chris Bernardo is the President and CEO of Commercial District Services, LLC (CDS), a public space management company with offices in Jersey City and Newark. CDS provides a full-service approach to Special Improvement District management, including Association/DMC Management, financial services, cleaning/sanitation, placemaking, and public safety management.
CDS is proud to serve a broad range of districts and public spaces within New Jersey’s Gateway region including: The Journal Square SID, Jackson Hill Main Street SID, Colgate Center Property Owners Association and Nathanael Greene Park in Jersey City; the Ironbound BID, Mount Prospect Avenue SID, Bergen|Lyons|Clinton SID and Military Park in Newark; The Elizabeth Avenue Partnership in Elizabeth; the South Orange Village Center Alliance in South Orange; the Hackensack Main Street Alliance in Hackensack; the River Road Improvement Corporation and Broadway Improvement Corporation in Fair Lawn; and the Fort Lee Business District Alliance in Fort Lee.
Through his work as a public space manager, Chris works closely with BID board members, BID managers, municipal staff, local law enforcement, elected officials, and district stakeholders to develop and implement a broad range of public space improvement programs, including: Streetscape Improvements, Outdoor Maintenance and Sanitation, Quality-of-Life Management, Public Safety Supervision/Advocacy, and Public Space Event Programming.
Chris is a graduate of Montclair State University (1996), with a degree in Political Science, and is a former member of AmeriCorps, Bill Clinton’s National Service Program, in which he served as a Project Manager for the Montana Conservation Corps (1997).
Chris resides in West Caldwell, New Jersey with his wife, Nathalia, and 2 year-old son, Shane. In his spare time, Chris enjoys spending time with his family, volunteering in the communities that he serves and visiting and photographing great downtowns and public spaces.
