Chris Bernardo is the President and CEO of Commercial District Services, LLC (CDS), a public space management company with management and operations offices in Jersey City, Newark, and Bloomfield. CDS provides a full-service approach to Special Improvement District management, including Association/DMC Management, financial services, cleaning/sanitation, placemaking, and public safety management.
Through his work as a public space manager, Chris works closely with BID board members, municipal staff, local law enforcement, elected officials, and district stakeholders to develop and implement a broad range of public space improvement programs, including: Streetscape Improvements, Outdoor Maintenance and Sanitation, Quality-of-Life Management, Public Safety Supervision/Advocacy, and Public Space Event Programming.
Chris is a graduate of Montclair State University, with a degree in Political Science, and is a former member of AmeriCorps, in which he served as a Project Manager for the Montana Conservation Corps.
Chris and his wife Nathalia, along with their two children, Shane and Colette, live in West Caldwell, New Jersey. In his spare time, Chris enjoys spending time with his family, volunteering in the communities that he serves and visiting and photographing great downtowns and public spaces.
Volunteer Board Service: Chris currently serves on the West Caldwell Planning Board; Downtown New Jersey; Project Main Street-Caldwell; and the Greater Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce.
